Which is which?

Monotropa uniflora or Indian pipe is currently appearing in the woods. Even though it is a very distinctive plant, it can be easily confused with a close cousin: Monotropa hypopitys or Dutchman’s pipe. Can you see the difference between the two? One is a uniflora and the other a multiflora. So when you see more than one “flower” which is yellowish in color on each stalk, realize that you are looking at something other than Indian pipe.
